Brand awareness is an important factor in the choice.
Even when technical features are attractive, a decision for selecting a product is not easily made if the brand is unknown. Such a choice would put the persons making the decision in a delicate situation if some problem happen in the future. It is always much safer approach for the decision making person or committee to go for brands who appear as well established on the China market.

Convincing a local distributor to enter in a partnership is also difficult if the foreign party on its side does not contribute with some brand building plan and actions.
